Ankah Soma Asona Royal Foundation
Honoring our ancestor Nana Kwasi Ankah, the 1st chief of Odonase and Tufunene Abura Traditional Area.
Ankah Soma Asona Royal Foundation Legacy
We want to be the magnifying glass that amplifies this cornerstone in our history.
By now we hope to have etched in your memory the name Nana Kwasi Ankah, the role he played in our country’s history and why we are proud to be his descendants. With this, we are steadfast in continuing his legacy.
His ability to append his signature – as opposed to providing a thumbprint – is a testament to his intellect and education. Thus, our Royal Ankah Soma Foundation recognizes the importance of promoting education among the youth and children in Odonase, as well as the surrounding communities
Our fundraising dinner will be the medium we use to share more about our beautiful history, as well as a reflection of our vision and mission statement. Join us on our mission, and donate to be a part of the Nana Ankah Soma Asona Foundation.
Our Pride as Nana Kwesi Ankah descendants arises from his extraordinary wisdom, courage, dedication and confidence in leading the independence of Ghana (Bond 1844), and the War of Aburaman. His impact transcended his immediate community and flooded into the neighboring villages, earning him the honor of Tufuhene (chief advisor). During the War between Britain and the Fantes [Aburaman], he astutely gathered the villagers in New Odonase and used the plantain stalk as a shield against the bullets from the opposition [a mystery to unravel]. His quick thinking saved the lives of many.
As the descendants of Nana Kwesi Ankah we believe his unsung story must take a prominent position in the history of Ghana’s independence. Our mission is to continue his legacy and propel his contributions in Ghana’s journey to the forefront. We are dedicated to passing on such rich history to our coming generation and to the world.
Odonase is a small beautiful hidden historic village that needs to be brought to light. A great place for tourists’ attraction, and an important historical gem. Nana Kwesi Ankah and Nana Adwoa Soma’s history must be told.
